Photos of past & present events that we have been involved in.
From time to time, people contact us to use our cars or locate suitable vehicles in their various promotions or special occasions such as weddings.
One of the photos in the gallery is a scene from a local school production of Grease, starring a 1960 Chrysler Windsor 2dr hardtop. This 5.9 metre long, 2 metre wide car had to be craned into the stage area from a flatbed truck!
Another event gaining popularity here is VCC trials - off road obstacle courses with points assigned as to how far through you make it!
Most traditional trials cars would be Trojans, or modified Austin Sevens. Gordon has taken the opportunity to build up a Morris Eight / Minor special. It has several very clever engineering features pioneered by Gordon, probably none of which I can share! First outing was in Blenheim & it rained so bad the tow vehicles were stuck where they stopped! On its second outing November 2008, Gordon acheived a mid pack placing. At the 2009 trials at Reefton, up against some very tough competitiors including ex Gp A & truck racer Avon Hyde, Gordon finished 2nd overall! In 2010 trails, Gordon managed to clinch first overall in the South Island series title in a hard fought battle.
On a non-powered note, the team at Autofocus are competing in the Collingwood Street Trolley Derby here in Nelson which is a version of soapbox derby racing, similar to extreme gravity straightline downhilling.
The Dacombe family are currently running 4 trolleys: Lightning Racer 2 driven by Morgan Dacombe, Kiwi Flyer driven by Jasmine Dacombe, The Spirit of Burt Munro driven by Jared Dacombe and Aussie Flash driven by Gordon Dacombe. The fastest trolleys were reaching speeds of close to 70km per hour!

We were involved in making the upcoming movie "Kiwi Flyer" with the story based around two of our trolleys the Aussie Flash & Kiwi Flyer. We were also involved in supplying various rigs & vehicles for the filming and some of our staff & family members were recruited for their acting talents.
The Daimler SP250 Dart made its first foray onto the track at the 2011 Skope classic at Ruapuna Park in Christchurch with Gordon at the wheel.
